Welcome to Red Beard Forge the online home of knife-maker, blacksmith and artist Anthony Reid.
When looking at something as personal as a handmade knife it helps to know something about the person who made it and much of who I am comes through in the knives and other items I make. I have been making knives for over 10 years and honing my skills and design philosophy as I go. I approach knife making and my work in general from two key perspectives:
One: that the utility of the tool must not be compromised in any way. A knife is meant to be used and it must function to the highest standard.
And two: that the process is as much a part of the finished product as the steel itself. Each and every item I make is an extension of who I am in the world, it teaches me about myself and it shapes me into a slightly different person with each completed project. I strive to make knives that will be used by others in the process of their own self discovery and growth as they in turn use my knives to craft parts of themselves in the wilderness, the kitchen and wherever else they may be. I challenge myself with every piece I make and consider continuous improvement to be the only path worth walking. Hand forged and hand finished from my hands to yours I hope to deliver more than just a knife. Check out my blog for more on my philosophy as well as my process and tutorials. My available pieces can be viewed on the available knives page, if you don't see exactly what you are looking for or have a special project in mind, please use the contact form to get a conversation rolling.
Through my connections with the bushcraft and wilderness living education community I have also come to supply outdoors schools and clubs with select items to aid in bringing up the next group of bushcrafters and outdoors people. If you belong to one of those groups and you are interested in items like Mora knives, Para-cord or other items in bulk quantity please contact me.
